The Walk with Emma

Waiting is hard. Waiting and believing. The infection should have cleared by now (long ago), but there’s still time. It’s the 11th hour, but time remains nevertheless.

My phone is back up and I have the same number. I can’t wait to share the details about that at a later time.

There’s a lot to share, but just not enough time to get it out. Our days are full of non-stop involvement and it takes every effort just to keep bumping hydration, food, and showers up on the list so that we can continue fighting with Emma.

There’s a lot of insight, some updates, and hopefully some clarity coming soon. I’ll get some new some stuff up eventually, but below is the latest “simple” update

The CSF fluid from her 3rd spinal tap showed an improvement from the second. This is a good sign. At 8 hours, the first one showed a lot of bacteria under a microscope. The second one showed less. This one showed none. All they can see from a microscope is bacteria whether dead or alive. None at 8 hours is great news. Now…it took around 44 hours for each of the others to show growth. Based on this, the infectious disease doctor and we that believe, expect a negative culture.  Lots of waiting. She also just had her long-awaited second brain MRI. Although the official report won’t be drafted until later on Monday, after both neurology and radiology complete their individual reports and then collaborate to form a final more accurate report, The neurologist, whom we talked to extensively, said she should be able to come by and discuss the preliminary results Friday. We are not over there or breath, but we are certainly hoping to hear from her this evening. I know her better than any doctor here and I saw her decline significantly over the last 3 days. This could be simply another virus that will clear right out, but it’s obviously very scary. Pray for clarity on this latest development. So, just to clarify, we are still very much in a holding pattern right now as we wait for the results of the long-awaited second MRI. I’ve learned not to hold my breath for any specific test result, but this one’s pretty big and should provide pretty significant insight. We love you all.
